To me, counseling is all in the relationship. My approach is straightforward Connect-Get the Story-Get to Work! I strive first and foremost to connect with my clients so I can fully understand their personal reality. I work with clients by focusing on the strengths that every child, teen, and parent already possess and then help them tap into their innate ability to overcome and adapt to whatever challenge they face. I use a blend of positive psychology, CBT, and PLAY to achieve real and lasting change for my clients. I consider being a Registered Play Therapist and  a SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Chilhood Emotions) trained clinician my most significant accomplishment, as well as showing my ongoing commitment to children's mental health. 

Why kids and teens?? Simply put, It’s what I know best after almost 10 years of working as an educator, Child Life Specialist, and school counselor.  They’re also the most fun, and I believe they have the most potential for change and growth. I also provide parent coaching services because I want parents to not only love their children, but truly enjoy being with them! I can use my teaching and developmental background in parent coaching to help parents understand children's behaviors and gain confidence in managing those behaviors while growing the parent-child relationship. I also enjoy presenting at local schools, churches, and mothers' groups on issues important to children and families.

As one of the founding partners of Family Connections Counseling, I have been blessed to be in private practice for 15+ years. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Texas State Board Approved Supervisor (LPC-S), and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). I hold a Master’s Degree of Science in Counseling from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University.

Most weekends, you will find me on the sidelines with my husband of twenty years, watching our two kids play soccer or whatever other sport is in season. I love to recharge by running with friends and traveling whenever I can. Family and friends are what keep me going!
