Heather McMichael LPC, RPT *Limited Availability*

My approach to therapy is client-centered and focuses on providing a safe and warm environment. I believe that everyone strives to be their best self, but we often experience challenges that make living our best lives hard to achieve. We will work together to build a strong relationship that provides empathy and understanding, genuineness, and is free of judgement. I view my clients as people doing their best to cope with life to the best of their ability and feel honored to walk alongside my clients in their therapeutic journey of healing and change. 

I enjoy working with teens and young adults, particularly as they prepare for and adjust to college life, as well as individuals navigating recovery from an Eating Disorder. My training in play therapy and activity therapy provides me with age-appropriate therapeutic methods for working with children and teenagers. My other specialty includes SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) in which I work with parents who want to improve their child's anxiety and/or OCD. 

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of North Texas, and then went on to attain my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a focus in Play therapy. In my free time, I love spending time with my husband and two daughters, going on walks with my golden retriever, or traveling to a new city! 

I am not paneled with any insurance companies and my session cost is $130 per session.
