Heather McMichael LPC, NCC

My approach to therapy is client-centered and focuses on providing a safe and warm environment. I believe that everyone strives to be their best self, but we often experience challenges that make living our best lives hard to achieve. We will work together to build a strong relationship that provides empathy and understanding, genuineness, and is free of judgement. I view my clients as people doing their best to cope with life to the best of their ability and feel honored to walk alongside my clients in their therapeutic journey of healing and change.

I have experience with people all across the life span, including children ages 3 to 12, pre-teens and teenagers, young adults, and adults in different stages of life. My training in play therapy and activity therapy provides me with age-appropriate therapeutic methods for working with children and teenagers. I have years of experience working in an eating disorder treatment facility and specialize in eating disorder recovery. My other specialties include play therapy, child/adolescent issues, anxiety, and grief and loss.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of North Texas, and then went on to attain my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a focus in Play therapy.

I look forward to working with you or your child and am excited to join you on this journey
